Partnership supports education
Hirsch and Earthbeat have formed a partnership in a sustainable education project.
HIRSCH'S and Educational DSTV’s EarthBeat have partnered to collect second hand clothes for Clothes2Good, the national company that purchases second hand clothes to raise money for sustainable education programmes for a variety of schools in the areas in which they operate.
EarthBeat’s presenter Kerry Dell said: “Money raised from the collection of these clothes will go towards lesson plans on sustainable living for schools selected by Hirsch’s who have kindly offered to set up collection points in all their branches for the second hand clothes. Clothes2Good will then sort and send on the clothes to the Blind and Deaf Society in KZN, the Uhambo Foundation for people with disabilities in Cape Town and Pathways Learning Centre in Gauteng – where the clothes will be rehabilitated (if need be) and sold on to raise funding for these associations.”
Well branded collection boxes will be set up in all the Hirsch's stores around the country and the public are invited to bring in packets of unwanted clothing to leave in the boxes.
