BEREA residents are being urged to roll up their sleeves and help save lives by donating blood at Netcare St Augustine’s Hospital on Wednesday, September 30.

The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) will hosts a blood donation drive from 06:00 to 16:00 with East Coast radio broadcasting their breakfast show live on site.

SANBS’ Anele Ngcobo said they are aiming to collect 250 units of blood to help meet the ongoing demand from hospitals.

SANBS said blood stocks are low, making community support and regular donations crucial to ensuring patients receive blood when they need it.

“SANBS is constantly in need of blood donations to ensure that patients receive the blood they need when they need it.”

The service is also encouraging new donors to come forward and make a difference.

“Every donation can help save lives,” said SANBS.

Residents who are able to donate are encouraged to make time for the drive and help SANBS reach its 250-unit target.

The blood service is continually reliant on donors to maintain adequate blood stocks and ensure hospitals can provide essential treatment to patients.
