Glitz and glam at charity ball

THE Sunflower Fund hosted another successful charity ball at the Southern Sun Elangeni Hotel on Friday night, with the purpose of paying tribute to The Sunflower Fund’s incredible achievements.

A whopping R305 000 was raised on the night, which will be used to give hope to patients diagnosed with leukaemia and other life threatening blood disorders who are in need of a bone marrow stem cell transplant.

A highlight of the evening was the auction, hosted by the well-known Graeme Hawkins, which raised R126 000.

“We thank everyone who has contributed to helping the Sunflower Fund add more donors to the South African Bone Marrow Registry, giving hope to those suffering from leukaemia,” said Stephanie Berry, PR and event specialist for the Fund.

Fashion designers Karen Monk Klijnstra, Bianca Warren, Kathrin Kidger and Sibu Msimang were all given the task of creating a glamorous item which were awarded to people who have made a significant difference to The Sunflower Fund. These were CEO Tarryn Corlett, Debbie Reynolds, Dave Guselli, survivor Sharleigh Wilken, Chris Wright from Trellidoor, Sharona Sewnarain, wife of Ashok Sewnarain from International Bank Vaults, the sponsor of the charity ball.

Stephanie also thanked her team, Allison Naidoo, Tanith Rodney and Mandy Bergsma.
