Stinky property riles neighbours
Residents of Glenwood are at their wits end with the filthy emanating from a home which usually spills onto their road.
GLENWOOD residents are concerned about a property in Kildare Road that is not only causing an eyesore, but may well be a health hazard to neighbouring residents in the area.
A neighbour, who introduced herself to Berea Mail only as Cindy, said the property had got progressively worse over the past few months. “There are so many different people living there and nobody seems to take responsibility for the pile of rubbish that is building up at the bottom of the yard,” she said.
Cindy said the property was being rented out to a number of different people, neither of whom put out their rubbish on the relative pick up days. “They also put the rubbish out in the wrong colour bags or on the wrong days so it gets left behind and we have dirt laying on the pavement,” she said.
When Berea Mail went pass the home last Thursday (refuse pick up day) there was a huge pile of rubbish on the inside of the gate with a rotting smell which wafted across the road.
“I walk my children to school every morning and afternoon and we have to pass this stinky house. It's disgusting. We are also concerned about rats because we already see flies and mosquitoes,” she said.
The neighbours have expressed concerns regarding the possible health hazard the rotting pile of rubbish may cause as it not only smells, but is also attracting flies and rats which impact on them.
Councillor Nicole Graham said the neighbours should contact both DSW and the Health Department to voice their concerns.
