Operation hope reaches out

DURBAN Christian Centre's Hope Centre Clinic will hold its annual Operation Hope outreach to the communities of Durban at the Jesus Dome on Saturday, 25 July from 8am to 3pm.

Operation Hope is a free medical outreach conducted by the DCC Hope Centre Clinic and the Durban Christian Centre, in partnership with organisations such as the Department of Health and the Department of Family Medicine at the University of KwaZulu-Natal.On the day free medical care, medication, eye tests, diabetes, TB, HIV and pregnancy tests and screening for chronic health conditions will be provided. Special packs of baby nappies and formula will be given to mothers with babies. Food parcels and blankets will also be handed out. The kitchen expects to provide over 2 000 free, hot meals.

At least 70 doctors and nursing sisters will be volunteering their services for the day.

“These health assessments and tests will help alert people to go to their local clinic or hospital to seek further help and treatment,” said Pastor John Torrens, of Durban Christian Centre. He added that early diagnosis could prevent more serious complications for some of the people tested.
