Tea supports community centre
First Glimpse held a fundraiser to support Woza Moya community centre in Ixopo.
AN afternoon tea in aid of Woza Moya community development project in Ixopo was hosted by First Glimpse, at Audacia Manor in Morningside recently.
Sue Hedden, the director and two founding members, Jane Nxasane and Benedicta Melele, of the rural community were present on the day to enlighten the attendees on their community centre located in the Ufafa Valley in Ixopo, which now includes child care and protection, sustainable livelihood, early childhood development, paralegal and advocacy and youth development.
Two replicas of oil paintings done by a well renowned Durban-based artist, Maggie Strachen, were on display and a short story of how these became the front covers of the centre's anniversary issue was told. Crafts done by the members of the Woza Moya community were on sale at the tea.
Youth from the support group, Mzamo Bekwa and Andile Ndlovu, also entertained with a short karate demonstration, after which everyone enjoyed tea and cake and fellowship.
