Glenwood Presbyterian Fete
FROM 08:00 until noon, on October 3, the lawns of Glenwood Presbyterian Church (339 Esther Roberts Road, Glenwood) will be abuzz. The annual fete, theme ‘Bargain Hunt for a Good Cause’ promises a variety of irresistible eats, treats, and treasures.
Funds raised during the fete support Operation Outreach, which enable ministries that aid people experiencing challenging times in the community, Stella Pre-Primary School, a home for the elderly in Umbilo, displaced people, and a crèche in KwaMashu.
Cherry the Clown presents a free clown show at 11:00 and there will also be a Kidzone.

17th Durban FilmMart focuses on local cinema
THE Durban FilmMart (DFM), renowned as a significant gateway to the African and global film industry for film professionals, takes place from October 9-12.
This year, the programme, which is designed with panel discussions, masterclasses, pitch forums and networking opportunities, also offers a focus on South African cinema through its “SA in Focus” programming stream.
“The local South African industry is navigating real challenges,” said DFM Institute Director Magdalene Reddy. “The 2026 DFM has been programmed with a view that answers begin at home.”

Pick n Pay Wine & Food Festival
TASTE away through some of SA’s top wine producers and discover a world of award-winning wines, and sumptuous food at the Pick n Pay Wine & Food Festival at Sugar Rush Park in Ballito on October 3.
Each ticketholder receives 20 wine tasting tokens and a tasting glass upon entry; the number of tokens “paid” per tasting is based on the rand value of the wine.
Designated driver / no alcohol access tickets do not include access to any alcohol tasting or purchasing.
The event is from 12:00 until 17:30 (tasting until 16:30).

Bloom & Umhlali Colour Run
RUN the rainbow. Join Bloom & Umhlali Prep for a 5km colour run on October 10. Get drenched in colour, chase the fun and cross the finish line smiling.

Botho Heritage International Festival
WUSHWINI Pan African Centre will come alive as Botho Heritage International Festival returns for its 12th edition until September 27.
Under the powerful theme “Botho: I Am Because We Are,” the five-day festival invites audiences, artists, cultural practitioners, elders, young people, communities and visitors to reconnect with the values that bind African societies together.
Through theatre, music, dance, fashion, film, literature, poetry, food, visual art, intellectual exchange and public ritual, the festival brings together different languages of African expression under one shared philosophy: we are because we belong to one another.
Entry to productions, events, and shows is R50 at the door.
Glenwood Book Fair
DURBAN’S favourite literary gathering is back. It is an opportunity to meet 70 favourite authors, discover new voices, and celebrate the power of stories.
The fair will take place as follows:
Thursday, September 24 – Mazisi Kunene Museum and Umbilo Library, Bulwer Park, 10:00-16:00; Friday, September 25 – KZNSA Gallery, 10:00-14:00, and Phansi Museum, 14:00-17:00; Saturday and Sunday, September 26 and 27 – 09:00-17:00.
Authors include Vasantha Angamuthu, Kirsten Miller, Mathabo Kunene, Kiru Naidoo, Nivashni Nair Sukdhev, Sindiswa Zulu, Usiba Writers’ Guild, and more.
