A message of hope
The Rotary Club of Durban have erected the Tree of Happiness at Davenport Square this month to raise funds to buy the Durban Child and Youth Care Centre a water tank.
THE community is invited to write a message of hope to a child at the Durban Child and Youth Care Centre this Christmas as part of a fundraising initiative for the Centre.
The Rotary Club of Durban established a vegetable garden at the Centre two months ago, but when water problems were experienced, they needed to do some serious fundraising to buy a JoJo tank to alleviate the problem h
“We decided to erect our Tree of Happiness at Davenport Square for the next month where shoppers can pay R5 and write a message of hope, motivation or inspiration to hang on the tree, to raise funds to buy the Centre a JoJo tank to collect water,” said Rydal Spavins from Rotary.
The tree is situated opposite the BBC Coffee Shop in the centre and will be there until 23 December.
