Groups gather for peace
Interfaith groups gathered at the Durban City Hall recently to spread the message of peace.
RELIGIONS for Peace (RfP) and the KZN Inter Religious Council (KZN IRC) organised an interfaith peace vigil at the Durban City Hall recently, in response to increasing violence in the city, country, the continent, and in the world.
The groups gathered to pray for peace and reconciliation, to witness for justice and to stand in solidarity with those around the world who say there are always peaceful alternatives to war.
Mark Naicker presented a message on behalf of the Inter Religious Youth Council, on behalf of all the peace seeking religions of the world.
“Peace is more than the absence of war; more than a carefully maintained balance of power. Peace is a right that needs to be enjoyed by all God’s children. The world seems to be a more violent place to live in. Innocent men, women and children murdered because they are a different faith, different race, religion, political party, nationality, different way of life,” he said.
