Students drive campaign for funding

UKZN will launch an initiative to raise funds that will assist academically excelling students who are unfunded to continue with their respective studies.

THE University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) will be launching ‘I CARE UKZN’ campaign on Thursday, 28 January at the IKS Multipurpose Centre, Documentation Centre – Westville Campus Library at 2pm.

The I CARE campaign is an initiative for students by students and aims to raise funds that will assist academically excelling students who are unfunded to continue with their respective studies. With the support of university management, the UKZN Student Leadership (SRC) will drive the campaign and make appeals to staff, students, corporates, individuals and all stakeholders who can contribute to this cause.

The student leadership, inspired by initiatives at other institutions and cognisant of the growing need for funding are spearheading this programme.

“It is heartening to see this level of passion and philanthropy in young people. They are our future leaders and we urge you all to consider this an investment in your future,” said Dr Sibusiso Chalufu, UKZN’s Executive Dean of Students.
