Prof gives talk on obesity and fat metabolism
The public are invited to a talk by a professor from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

A PUBLIC lecture presented by Professor G William Wong on obesity and fat metabolism takes place at UKZN's Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine, K2, K-RITH Tower Building on 4 April from 9am to 10am.
Prof Wong is currently an associate professor in the Department of Physiology and Center for Metabolism and Obesity Research at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He received his PhD degree from Harvard University, working on innate immunity, followed by post-doctoral training at the Whitehead Institute at MIT. In 2008, He joined the faculty at Johns Hopkins University.
Wong’s research efforts in the past decade focuses on understanding the physiological functions and mechanisms of action of a novel family of secreted hormones they originally identified in 2004. Wong and his team use a combination of molecular, cellular, and genetic (transgenic and knockout) approaches to address how these secreted proteins control energy homeostasis in vivo.
The foundation they laid, and the new angle they provided to understand hormonal control of metabolism, have catalyzed multiple independent lines of inquiry into CTRP biology.
