Last chance for voters to register today

South Africans have until 5pm today to register to vote and provide their addresses.

AS part of the preparations towards  Local Government Elections later this year, the Voters’ Roll closes today (Monday, 23 May).

Minister Des van Rooyen is reminding all South Africans who have not yet registered and provided their addresses or sufficient particularities, to do so before 5pm at the offices of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), in the local municipalities.

Following the closure of the Voter’s Roll, Minister van Rooyen intends to gazette and proclaim the date of the coming local government elections and this will allow for the start of the electoral processes in terms of the Election Timetable.
