Community rallies to help hero Gabriel

Gabriel Langa, who recently went to the aid of a pensioner who was being held up at gunpoint, thanks the community.

GABRIEL Langa, the guardian angel who rushed to a pensioner’s aid while she was being held up at gunpoint recently, has thanked the community for their financial assistance.

Annabelle Margadant was visiting friends and had parked outside their home in ZK Matthews Road when three men approached her and demanded her car keys. One of the men stuck a gun in her stomach and grabbed her bag out her hands.

Gabriel had been driving by from work when he saw what was happening, and stopped to help, not realising the men were armed. They fired a shot at his vehicle before jumping into his bakkie and driving off.

Langa’s vehicle was not insured, and Margadant subsequently appealed to the community to help Langa financially, as he required a vehicle to make a living.

Speaking to Berea Mail last week, Margadant said Gabriel had received an amount of R8 500 in his account.

“He is thrilled by this, as he is still having to borrow a bakkie to do his work,” she said.

She encouraged the community to still help if they are able to.
