Poster thieves hamper church projects
St Cyprian's Church is urging the community to keep an eye out for the people who are stealing posters advertising their fete.
SABOTEURS are hampering fundraising efforts by St Cyprian's Anglican Church, at 603 Umbilo Road.
According to Father Dane Elsworth, the posters for which the church pays a fee to the municipality and cost R35 each, are being stolen off lamp posts.
“This could affect the support we so gratefully receive. St Cyprian's was established in 1870, 146 years ago and has a history of community involvement from establishing St Monica's Children's Home, to running Kerr House for “Women In Crisis”, which accommodates up to 15 women and provides professional support. We also support a number of feeding schemes in Durban. This fete raises funds for these causes,” he said.
He said the fete relies on community support and the church is concerned at the rate at which the posters are being removed.
