Join in on Christmas in July quiz
HOLAH is hosting a Christmas in July quiz night, and is needing prize donations, donations for the baby house and more participants.
THE HOLAH (House of Love and Hope) baby house quiz league is hosting a special Christmas in July-themed quiz night on 13 July at Glenmore Pastoral Centre at 6.30pm.
The community is invited to join in the fun and enter a team of six. There will be turkey and cranberry rolls and drinks on sale, and prizes for the best-dressed.
“We’re hosing this big Christmas in July celebration to tie in with Mandela Day. December is usually the season for giving, and in the northern hemisphere it is winter and people are in need. But in South Africa, winter is in July and the homeless are suffering. Everyone is feeling the economic pinch, and places like HOLAH are in need, with increasing electricity prices as heaters are needed, the babies are eating more, so they need more food and nappies, and are inside more, so are in need of more stimulating educational toys.
“Being quiz master is my donation to HOLAH, and I encourage others to come along on the night, bring donations for HOLAH and enjoy a good time. The best way to feel rich is by giving to someone else, it’s so fantastic,” said Beverley Cooke-Tonnesen.
Kim Brown, co-founder of HOLAH, said the baby house was in need of Infacare formula, size three and four Pampers nappies, fruit and vegetables and toiletries. Prizes are also needed for the quiz night for teams of six or spot prizes.
