City hosts social ills programme for youth

The programme is to engage with the youth and create awareness about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse and promote safe sexual behaviour.

EThekwini Mayor,  Zandile Gumede, together with the MEC of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs,  Nomusa Dube-Ncube, will host the Youth Against Social Ills Programme on Tuesday, 27 December 2016 from 10am to 1pm at the Amphitheatre on Durban’s beachfront.

The purpose of the programme is to engage with the youth and create awareness about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse and promote safe sexual behaviour. The programme encourages behavioural change, especially for young people who may be susceptible to peer pressure.

As part of the programme, there will be onsite HIV testing and distribution of health information.
