Two injured in collision
SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating the cause of the accident.
TWO people were injured, one critically, after the vehicle they were travelling in collided with a bridge on St Andrews Street under the M4 bridge in Durban on Sunday at around noon.
Garrith Jamieson, operations director for Rescue Care Paramedics, said they were called to the scene to find that a single vehicle had collided with the bridge structure.
“Two occupants were found injured in the vehicle. The passenger was found to have sustained critical injuries and advanced life support paramedics worked to stabilise her on the scene,” he said.
The woman was placed on a manual ventilator on the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital for further care. Jamieson said the driver had sustained serious injuries and was also stabilised on scene before being transported to a nearby hospital.
“At this stage what caused the single vehicle to collide with the bridge is unknown however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further,” he said.
