Man killed in train accident

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.

A MAN, believed to be in his 30s, was killed when he was hit by a Metro train at the corner of Field and Leopald Street on Monday morning.

“At around 8:20am, Rescue Care Paramedics and SAPS Search and Rescue were called to Leopald Street and Field Street to attend to a person who had been hit by a train. On their arrival, they found that a man had been knocked by a train. Paramedics assessed the man and found that he sustained severe injuries and had already passed away before the paramedics arrived. He was declared dead at the scene,” said Garrith Jamieson, Operations Director of Rescue Care.

The exact cause of the collision is unknown, however SAPS were at the scene and will be investigating further.
