Berea collision: Driver released on bail

The National Prosecuting Authority is conducting investigations to determine whether the man will be formally charged with driving under the influence.

THE driver of a vehicle which crashed at the intersection of Botanic Gardens and John Zikhai Roads in the early hours of Saturday, has been released on bail.

The man had been arrested at the scene of the accident, and provincial SAPS stated he would be charged with culpable homicide and driving under the influence.

Two women, actress Owethu Enhle Gambushe and friend, Samke Majola, were killed in the collision.

The driver reportedly appeared at the Durban Magistrates Court on Monday and was released on R4 000 bail.

His next court appearance was scheduled for late next month.
