Explore Musgrave’s holy acre
BESETdurban Walk on Saturday morning will explore Musgrave’s “Holy Acre”.
BESETdurban, an affiliation of curious Durbanites who lead regular walking groups through interesting places in the city, will be exploring Musgrave’s “Holy Acre… and a Half” this Saturday morning, 29 September, starting at 8am.
“Our walks will take you through some of Durban’s forgotten spaces and best kept secrets. Explore, educate, inform, occupy and share: that’s the aim of our game. We strongly believe that it’s only by walking that you really experience the fabric of your city. Our aim is to do a walk every four to six weeks,” said Jonas Barausse on behalf of the BESETdurban team.
This Saturday the group will meet in the courtyard of Musgrave Methodist Church at 8am sharp and will look at some of the places of worship in the vicinity.

The walk will visit Musgrave Methodist Church, Holy Trinity Catholic Church, St Thomas Anglican Church, the existing Musgrave mosque and the site of the new mosque currently under construction.
The BESET walk coincides with Musgrave Methodist Church’s 125th birthday celebrations this weekend. A special service is planned for Sunday morning, 30 September at 9am to which everyone is welcome.
Street parking in the vicinity of Musgrave/St Thomas is recommended. Denis Hurley Centre will provide carguards. The Paper Money guys will also be selling newspapers and second hand books on site before the walk.
