Paying it forward
Shop owner Brenda Jarvis recently accumulated sufficient sales revenue to make up worthwhile donations.
BRING and Browse Charity Shop at the corner of King Dinizulu (Berea) and Bulwer Roads in Glenwood donated a total of R30 000 to three different elder homes this month.
Shop owner Brenda Jarvis took the accumulated sales revenue from donated household items and enquired of three underprivileged old age homes what their most urgent requirements were. She then made the effort to buy the needed items.
Mothwa Haven in Che Guevara (Moore) Road received badly-needed new awnings. The construction company, Elysium Contractors, kindly donated labour and materials to cover the shortfall needed to complete the job. Natal Settlers Memorial Homes chose to have their donation in the form of adult diapers, an ongoing, expensive requirement.

Pastor Victor Mkhize of the Umlazi Christian Care Society Ekhanana Old Age Home received two Countour Plus Glucometers and test strips that were needed.
The service that Brenda and her assistants Sarah Beala and Elaine Daker offer to the community is immensely valuable. Not only are unwanted items sold inexpensively to those who will make good use of them but all proceeds from sales are used to benefit underprivileged people.
