Help spread some love with new competition

HIRSCH’S Homestores recently held a competition with Eat Greek caterers and Caxton Media as an extension of its extremely popular Kitchen Capers virtual cooking event. Readers had to submit their favourite meat free dish for a chance to win a Hirsch’s voucher and a voucher from Eat Greek caterers.

Self-confessed food fanatic, Lee Hamblin, came out on top with the judges with his winning dish – a bouquet of wheat grass pasta roses filled with a mushroom and double bean duxelle served with ‘rose stems’ of chai seed and caramelised onions and a brown butter and balsamic warm dressing.

Hirsch’s next competition ‘A Pot Full Of Love’ involves giving back during July – the month of South African icon and struggle hero, Nelson Mandela’s birthday.

Readers can nominate a family or a small crèche that is struggling, and in 50 words or less submit a motivational piece on why they feel they need the help and the nominated family or crèche could stand a chance to be rewarded with a 14 litre pot from Snappy Chef, a voucher from Hirsch’s and a food hamper from Spar.

The winning nominator will receive a selection of the popular Hirsch’s family cookbooks.
