Ward councillor returns to work following battle with Covid-19

Councillor Mmabatho Tembe informed residents of her ward that she would be back at work this week.

WARD 33 councillor, Mmabatho Tembe, has reported being back at work following a three-week battle with Covid-19.

Posting on social media today (11 January), Tembe thanked each resident who sent her well wishes and prayers during the time she had Covid.

Tembe suffered pneumonia and was hospitalised, missing Christmas and time with her family, and also missing out on a proper holiday.

She said: “Unlike so many, I’m glad I survived to take another breath. I’m still fighting a bit of fatigue but I’m back to myself.”

Tembe informed residents of her ward that she would be back at work this week, and would be catching up with the many emails in her inbox.

She said she would also be taking a service drive this week to see how the ward is looking and also follow up with officials on some issues left from the end of last year.

She urged residents to take note that as it is level 3 lock down, many departments in the municipality have also been affected by Covid, and service delivery would be slower. She encouraged people to continue reporting and following up.

Tembe said she would not be seeing residents face to face for meetings as yet, however they could call, WhatsApp or email her: ward33@ethekwini.org or 078 640 6362.
