A HOMELESS man made a shocking discovery on Sunday morning (11 July) while rummaging through rubbish bins along Boscombe Place in South Beach. 

The newborn baby girl, said Emer-G-Med spokesman, Kyle van Reenen, still had the umbilical cord and placenta attached.

“She was treated and stabilised on scene before being taken to a nearby hospital for further care,” said Van Reenen.

He said the baby girl is currently in a stable condition and in “good spirits”.

“We commend the homeless gentleman for alerting authorities and ultimately saving this little lady’s life,” he added.

The South African Police Services will be investigating the incident.
