Cataracts patients get gifts of sight at Durban hospital
In commemoration of World Sight Day 14 patients have received free cataract surgery at Life Entabeni Hospital.

Fourteen patients have received the gift of sight through free cataract surgery at Life Entabeni Hospital on Thursday (October 22).
The generous act was in line with World Sight Day, celebrated on October 8.
“The initiative reflects Life Entabeni Hospital’s commitment to improving lives and expanding access to essential healthcare for individuals who may otherwise face financial barriers to treatment,” said José Nadesan, marketing officer at Life Entabeni Hospital.

Yvonne Abrahams of Wentworth has been struggling with cataracts for years, but due to financial constraints, she could not afford the surgery.
“I felt like my world was getting darker every day. My condition was also worsened by having dry eyes. I am grateful to the hospital for restoring my eyesight, my life,” Abrahams said.
“Cataracts can significantly affect a person’s vision, independence, and quality of life. By providing these procedures free of charge, the hospital has helped the 14 patients take an important step towards improved vision and a better quality of life,” added Nadesan.
