UKZN’s Howard College campus reopens after strike threats

After a brief shutdown due to strike threats, UKZN's Howard College campus opens its door again to students and lecturers, as this year's academic programme moves forward.

THE University of KwaZulu-Natal management has effectively discontinued and ended the shutdown of the Howard College campus following an assessment of the situation on campus.

The campus re-opens today, February 21.

In a statement issued by the university, executive director of corporate relations, Normah Zondo, said, “Access to campus, as it is the case with all other campuses, will only be granted to individuals (staff, students and contractors) who are in possession of valid University Access permits.”

“Ensuring an environment conducive to teaching and learning and ensuring the safety of all students, staff, and property are some of the University’s key priorities,” said Zondo.

The university remains confident the re-commencement of the academic programme will be a smooth and hassle-free process.

Risk Management Services will continuously monitor the situation across all campuses.
