Man critically injured in Umbilo shooting

A Bartle Road resident was shot at his home last night, sustaining serious gunshot wounds and was taken for medical intervention by ALS Paramedics.

LAST night ALS Paramedics Medical Services took urgent action on the scene of a critical shooting.

ALS Paramedics spokesperson, Garrith Jamieson reported last night, “One person has been critically injured in a shooting incident on Bartle Road in Umbilo just before 20:00 on Wednesday evening.”

“ALS Paramedics Medical Services responded to multiple calls of a shooting incident on Bartle Road near Stellawood Road in the Umbilo area,” said Jamieson.

He said that on arrival at the scene they found a male believed to be in his sixties had been shot during a shooting incident.

“The man sustained critical injuries and was stabilized on the scene by Advanced Life Support Paramedics before being transported to a nearby Durban hospital for the further treatment that he required,” he said.

Jamieson said at this stage the events leading up to the incident are unknown however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
