ARE you looking for something to do this weekend? Well, look no further – here’s a list of events happening this weekend in Durbs and surrounds:

Saturday, March 11

Northlands Girls’ High School will meet Ashton International College in the first game of this year’s SPAR KZN Schoolgirls’ Hockey Challenge as they take each other on in the Durban North Regional.
The regional tournament, hosted by Our Lady of Fatima Dominican Convent School (DCS), will be held at Riverside Hockey Club on Saturday, March 11.
The first of 21 games tips off just after 07:00 with 10 local teams heading to Riverside to participate in one of the most tightly fought regionals in this challenge.
The tournament will have the 10 teams split up into two pools.

Sunday, March 12
The Westville Country Club situated on 1 Link Road, Westville, is inviting the public to come and learn to play bowls, a fun event for the whole family. The games will start at 13:30 and will cost R30 per person. No experience is needed, and bowls and bowling guidance will be provided. Wear casual clothes, flat shoes, and bring a hat. Children over 12 are welcome to join in the fun. A bar will be open with refreshments on sale. Contact Sylvia Munro on 083 789 2886.

THE second tournament of the 2023 SPAR KZN Schoolgirls’ Hockey Challenge will be hosted by Thomas More College on Sunday, March 12. Seven teams will be going head to head in this highly competitive Highway regional. Taking to the turf on the day are Highway schools Curro Hillcrest, Gelofte High School, Hillcrest High School, Kloof High School, St Mary’s DSG and hosts Thomas More with Westville Girls’ High School.

Monday, March 13:
THE next meeting for the South African Association of Retired Persons will be held at Amanzimtoti Bowling Club on March 13, at 09:30 for 10:00. The entrance fee of R10 covers the meeting expenses, tea and a biscuit. Membership is open to all persons over 60 years, who want to meet new people and join outings to places of interest. Tuesday, March 21

The Music Gear Fair will take place on Tuesday, March 21, at 10:00 and run until 14:00, at the Rhumbelow Shellhole (42 Cunningham Rd, off Bartle Road). There will be food for sale and a well-stocked bar. This is an opportunity for musicians to offload their unwanted/previously loved musical items. We’d like to think that this is a forum for local musicians and friends to get together and compare notes, sell, swap and buy. In addition, there will be vinyl/record players and other related stuff on sale. We still have a few spots/tables available if any musicians would like to get on board.
