eThekwini Municipality issues notice of planned water cut

Parts of Durban are expected to be without water due to planned maintenance.

THE eThekwini Municipality has issued a notice of planned water cuts for parts of Durban due to a planned water supply interruption from the Wiggins Pumping System.

This is due to repair work that needs to be undertaken on the inlet control valve that operates the St Thomas Reservoir. The repair work includes the replacement of the 600mm gate and butterfly valves. This work will require reservoirs from the Wiggins Pumping System to be isolated.

The shutdown of the system will start on Tuesday, November 14, at 19:00, until Wednesday, November 15, at 05:00. System recovery will vary according to the demand patterns.

Affected areas include:

  • parts of Morningside
  • parts of Overport
  • parts of Essenwood
  • parts of Berea
  • parts of Westridge
  • parts of Glenwood
  • parts of Carrington Heights
  • parts of Woodlands
  • parts of Woodhaven
  • parts of Mobeni Heights
  • parts of Lamontville
  • uMlazi V-Section and
  • Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital.

The municipality apologises for the inconvenience caused.
