Suspected cop killer appears in court
An intensive Hawks investigation led to an arrest of a wanted suspect in connection with multiple crimes, including the murder of an SAPS member in 2023.
ON Saturday (August 3), Hawks members from Durban Serious Organised Crime Investigation arrested a 30-year-old suspect in Mayville for murder and for the possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
On November 4, 2023, Sergeant Goba from Durban K9 Unit was shot and killed at Quarry Road in Springfield. A case of murder was opened at the Mayville Police Station. The case docket was allocated to the Hawks members from Durban Serious Organised Crime Investigation.

“An intensive Investigation was conducted by the Hawks. On Saturday, August 3, two suspects, aged between 30 and 39 years, were found driving a white Toyota Etios that was stolen. They were placed under arrest and charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle. Initial investigation revealed that the 30-year-old suspect is a wanted suspect in the case of Sergeant Goba’s murder. He was further charged with murder. [Both suspects] appeared before the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Monday, August 5,” said the KwaZulu-Natal Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation provincial head, Major General (Dr) Lesetja Senona.
He commended and applauded the members for their good work.
