Botched robbery suspect gunned down in Sydenham
A man in his 20s, believed to be a robbery suspect, was fatally shot in Sydenham by a pedestrian who he allegedly tried to rob on Kenilworth Road.
INVESTIGATIONS are underway following the fatal shooting of a robbery suspect in Sydenham this afternoon.
The man, believed to be in his 20s, was gunned down on Kenilworth Road in Sydenham just after 12:15, according to ALS Paramedics. Garrith Jamieson of ALS Paramedics said the victim had sustained gunshot wounds to his chest.

“ALS Paramedics responded to multiple calls of medical assistance needed. Paramedics arrived on the scene to find the man in an open field who had sustained gunshot wounds to his chest,” said Jamieson. “The man showed no signs of life and was declared deceased on the scene.”
He added, “It is alleged that the patient had tried to rob a pedestrian when the man defended himself, however, SAPS were in attendance and will investigate the circumstances.”
