Davenport rocked by fatal shooting

The busy area of Davenport was temporarily plunged into chaos after a man in his 20s was gunned down on Thursday, around 18:00

A MANHUNT is underway following the fatal shooting of a man in Davenport on Thursday evening.

According to ALS Paramedics, the victim, a man believed to be in his 20s, was shot multiple times while inside a vehicle at the corner of Che Guevara Road and Cleaver Road in Davenport, just after 18:00.

Garrith Jamieson of ALS Paramedics said when paramedics arrived on scene they were shown to a vehicle which had crashed into a wall. The area had already been cordoned off with multiple security personnel in attendance.

He said, “Paramedics assessed a male in the vehicle, believed to be in his 20s, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his body. Unfortunately there was nothing paramedics could do for him and he was declared deceased on the scene.”

The scene was handed over to the South African Police Service. “At this stage the events leading up to the shooting are unknown, however SAPS were in attendance and will be investigating further,” said Jamieson.
