Wanted rape suspect rearrested at Dalton Hostel

Following an intensive police search operation the suspect who escaped from police custody on Monday was rearrested today.

POLICE have rearrested the 28-year-old rape suspect who escaped from police custody in Mariannhill on Monday, following his arrest earlier in the day. He was located at Dalton Hostel in Umbilo this morning (May 22).

“The suspect will appear in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court today on a charge of escaping from lawful custody. He will then be transferred to Ekhombe where he will face several cases of rape in which he allegedly targeted learners who reside at cottages of a school in Nkandla,” said KZN SAPS spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda.
