ABC councillor candidate driven by passion for politics to serve
A Ward 33 councillor candidate aims to address water challenges by tackling ageing infrastructure.
With the 2026 Local Government Elections (LGE) just around the corner, councillors will be elected for all district, metropolitan and local municipalities across the country’s nine provinces.
This week, the Berea Mail took to the streets of Ward 33 to meet and greet councillor candidates competing for the host seat come the November 4 LGE.
Sixty-four-year-old councillor candidate for the Abantu Batho Congress (ABC) in Ward 33, Priscilla Abrahams, says she will use her passion for politics to put the needs of the residents of this ward first and foremost.
Before fully taking up space in the political realm Abrahams worked as a professional teacher. She then moved on to join the insurance sector as a Financial Advisor, then worked at the airport as an Operations Manageress, before opening her own cleaning company and a funeral parlour – which she currently runs.
Abrahams’ love for politics dates back to more than two decades. She enjoyed membership of the DA, rubbed shoulders with ActionSA after joining the party during its formation stages, and subsequently joined the ABC.
Abrahams said that if she secured the hot seat, the issues that she would address included:
- The mobilisation for the construction of rehabilitation centres for drug and alcohol addicts.
- She will address water challenges, which she attributes to ageing infrastructure.
- Ensure the smooth enforcement of City by-laws across all the corners of her Ward.
