Spinning debut delivers spectacle sport reaches new heights

Sunday's event exceeded all expectations, with over 4000 spectators packing the venue to witness spinning's Red Bull Shay’ iMoto’s first visit to KwaZulu-Natal, raising the sport from underground to meteoric upsurge.

THE sport of Spinning reached yet another milestone in its meteoric rise from underground expression to full-blown mainstream motorsport on Sunday, when Panjaro emerged victorious from a field of 16 elite drivers to claim the 2025 Red Bull Shay’ iMoto Championship at Suncoast Casino.

With Durban’s successful debut now in the books, Panjaro joins the elite ranks of Red Bull Shay’ iMoto champions, carrying the title and the responsibility of representing South African spinning culture.

He shared, “I am very excited to have won this year’s Red Bull Shay’iMoto title,” said Panjaro moments after being crowned champion, “I’ve watched my brother Austin Kruger battle it out before, and tonight I used his car to compete, which makes this victory even more special.”

His victory came after a thrilling battle with runner-up Boksie, with Panjaro demonstrating the perfect blend of technical precision and showmanship that defines the Red Bull Shay’iMoto competition.

One of the fan favourites on the day was Magesh Junior, who proudly wore his isiZulu regalia, bringing a vibrant cultural flair to the track. His impressive skills and confident presence earned him a spot in the semi-finals, where he faced off against Panjaro.

The organisers believe the event showcased spinning’s evolution from street culture to spectacular motorsport theatre, with each of the 16 drivers bringing their unique style and story to the tarmac.

The drivers were judged on vehicle control, style, showmanship, and crowd impact, ‘the competition delivered moments of pure artistry alongside heart-stopping competition.”
