Popular junior school finds new home in Umbilo

Child of Africa Preparatory and Primary School relocates from Glenwood to Umbilo ahead of the new school year.

WHEN schools reopens on January 14, the non-profit Child of Africa Preparatory and Primary school will operate from 396 Bartle Road, Umbilo, making a notable move from Suffolk Place, Glenwood.

According the school manager Richard la Colombe the move was inspired by a desire to seek a bigger space for their playground.

“As we continue to provide quality early childhood and junior primary education, we recognised a need for bigger playtime space. We understand that children spend a lot of time in the playground, and education alone is not sufficient for growing minds,” shared La Colombe.

The school houses more than 30 children from different backgrounds from the local community, and it looks forward to a successful 2026 as it “remains committed to nurturing young minds in a safe, caring, community-oriented learning environment”.
