Geeking at Hilton festival
Geek Culture is officially joining the programme at this year’s Hilton Arts Festival. Just Geekin’ is a brand new addition to the 34th Hilton Arts Festival, from August 7 at Hilton College, bringing three days of tabletop roleplaying, Esports gaming, cosplay and comics to the KZN Midlands.
Curated by award-winning, multidisciplinary South African graffiti and hip hop artist, poet, and activist Ewok (aka Iain Robinson) and artist and musician Daniel Sheldon, the Just Geekin’ Festival hopes to attract a new audience of creative thinkers, gamers, artists and performers.

A ticket unlocks a whole day. Day tickets are R75, with a full weekend pass available for R100, and both grant access to the Geek Lounge with a variety of activities. Additional ticketed activations and add-ons will be available in the Geek Lounge as well.
R&B Fest comes to Durbs
The fest promises indulgence in the ultimate Old School R&B experience that will leave one dancing all night long! DJs are set to spin all the favourite R&B anthems, with the host turning up the heat with every beat.
Favourites from the ’80s, ’90s, and ’00s will feature Sean Paul, Missy Elliot, Fat Joe, Twista, Mase, Lauryn Hill, Maria Carey, Destiny’s Child, Dru Hill, and more.
On August 8, the venue at Club 386, 7 McCausland Crescent, Umhlanga Rocks, is locked down from 16:00 to 21:00.

100 years of of vintage engine history
Baynesfield Estate hosts a special occasion, the Lister D Centenary Celebration. Celebrating 100 years of the iconic Lister D engine, this event brings together enthusiasts, collectors, and families.
Visitors can expect an impressive showcase of vintage engines, classic machinery, and passionate exhibitors from across South Africa.
On offer are sights, sounds, and nostalgia of these historic machines in action. Connect with fellow enthusiasts and experience the unique atmosphere of Baynesfield Estate.
It is open to seasoned collectors or anyone looking for a memorable day out. The event will take place on August 9 at Baynesfield Estate.
Tamia headlines Women’s’ Month celebrations

The six-time Grammy Award nominee, singer-songwriter, and Multi-Platinum Selling International R&B Superstar Tamia is heading to South Africa on August 7.
She will headline The Biggest Women’s Month Celebration Tour Experience place at the Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium in Durban. The show starts at 18:00.

Blending rotis and motherhood
Roti Queen, a bold, one-woman theatre piece performed by Shika Budhoo and directed by Dhaveshan Govender, returns to Umhlanga as part of the Durban International Book Fair 2026.
The interactive, Bollywood-influenced show follows Amrita, a Durban wife and mother, as she prepares rotis live on stage while juggling family, memories and expectations.

Full of heart, humour, dance and live roti making, Roti Queen moves between characters and generations to explore identity, resilience and the choices that shape us
The show will be on August 10 at Sapphire Room, Umhlanga Apart-Hotel, 60 Meridian Drive, Umhlanga Ridge, at 15:00.

Women’s Day celebration at Stella
In celebration of Women’s Day and women who inspire, Dulcie Erasmus and Belinda Davorin of Amethyst Band will be setting Stella Park Bowling Club on fire. The show takes place on August 9, from 14:00 to 17:00. It promises fantastic music, food and drinks on sale, and wonderful vibes.
Entry is free.

Women in Jazz
In commemoration of Women’s Day, August 9, Jazz Expression is seving jazz melodies, food and wine, and visual arts.
The show features Khumbu Dlamini, Zoey The Seed, and Thulile Zama.
Jazz standards will be played from 14:00 at Jazz Expression House, 20 Wright Place, Carrington Heights.
