Suspected Overport drug dealers appear in court
The recovered drugs are estimated to have a street value of over R700 000.
Two suspects who were arrested for allegedly dealing in drugs as well as possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition in Mayville on Thursday night appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Friday (August 14).
According to Colonel Robert Netshiunda the two suspects, aged 20 and 26, were arrested during an intelligence-led operation at a residence at Puntans area in Mayville.
“The suspects were put under surveillance from June 2026 after police detectives uncovered the duo’s suspected illicit drug trade in Overport and the surrounding suburbs.
“After enough information was collected, a search and seizure warrant was obtained and during the execution, the suspects were found with a firearm and 50 rounds of ammunition of different calibre of firearms, drugs including mandrax, heroin and cocaine,” Netshiunda said.
The recovered drugs are reportedly estimated to have a street value of over R700 000.
