Florida Road UIP’s fancy dress parade attracts a crowd
The Fancy Dress Parade on Florida Road saw attendees dress up in scary costumes of their choice as they ended the month of October in style.
Organisers of the Trick or Treat Fancy Dress Parade say they are happy with the event turnout and look forward to hosting more in the future.
The annual parade, which came into formation three years ago, took place on Saturday (October 31) and people of all ages were invited to join in the celebration.

It commenced at 11:00 and saw participants in their scariest outfits of choice, partaking in a walk from Mitchell Park, all the way down to Argyle Rd in Durban.
Jessie Shane, public relations and marketing manager for the Florida UIP, said that the event had shown growth from the previous years.
“It has been growing each year. It is an annual walk and each year it is getting bigger.
“It is an amazing event that is peaceful, orderly and it is great,” she said.
Shane said that it was the perfect way to bring people together.

“It was a fun thing to do to get the stores involved, to bring feat into the streets, and it is a nice thing to get the community involved in, and I mean, which kid does not love dressing up as a superhero or a fairy.
“So, we are not really big on it being like a ‘Halloween thing’, but more of a fancy dress parade,” she said.
