Berea surfers compete in national para-surfing comp
Berea resident Danito Mondlane placed first in the Men’s Visually Impaired 1 category.
KWAZULU-NATAL surfers shone at the TyreLife Solutions South African Para Surfing Championships at the weekend.
Several Berea surfers also made waves at the competition which was hosted by Made for More, a non-profit organisation (NPO) and public benefit organisation.
Made for More aims to include, empower and equip people with disabilities through sport. The organisation has held several adaptive surfing events.
The NPO announced the official results of the competition on Monday, August 1, saying that KZN placed in first position with 26 693 points, followed by Western Cape (8 916 points), Eastern Cape (1 000 points) and Gauteng (860 points).

The National competition had several categories – including the visually impaired and the kneel/sit, stand up and prone assist.
