One year of giving back for Hollywood Foundation

Some of the work the foundation has done in their first year is they have assisted schools, small businesses and sports teams.

THE Hollywood Foundation celebrated one year of giving back with a brunch held at Kingsmead Stadium on Friday, October 21.

After launching the My Community Programme in 2012, Hollywoodbets increased their corporate social investment, establishing their non-profit organisation, the Hollywood Foundation, in 2021.

“We are celebrating a year of impacting communities and restoring hope to citizens in the country. Uplifting people’s lives through our many initiatives is what drives the team in the execution of our tasks. This is an exciting time, as we look back on the year’s highlights and plan for the upcoming year,” said Vuyisile Ngobese, public relations officer for the Hollywood Foundation.

In a statement, the foundation said that one of the key moments of their first year was welcoming Proteas spin bowler Keshav Maharaj as the first Brand Ambassador. The foundation launched several initiatives throughout the year. Through the Back to School campaign, over 200 schools received school shoes and stationery for learners. The foundation’s ‘Future is Bright’ bursary programme afforded students an opportunity to achieve their tertiary academic goals. Amid the recent April and May floods, the foundation launched their #HandsOfHope campaign and donated R5m worth of fresh drinking water, food parcels and blankets to affected communities. Another project aimed at delivering drinking water and sanitation was the #BarrowsOfPower campaign which commemorated  Nelson Mandela Month this year. A total of 67 barrows will be distributed to each of the nine provinces in the country, from July 18, 2022 through to July 18, 2023.
