Durban professor among top 30 women in leadership

Professor Keolebogile Motaung is also a biomedical scientist and entrepreneur – she developed a natural anti-inflammatory ointment.

PROFESSOR Keolebogile Motaung of Durban University of Technology (DUT) was recently nominated as one of the Strategic African Women in Leadership (SAWIL) Trailblazer Top 30 Finalists.

She is among 30 women nominated for their work in transformation, gender equality, diversity and inclusion in their respective fields.

Motaung, who is DUT’s acting deputy vice-chancellor in research, innovation and engagement, was nominated by the public as someone who actively champions the empowerment of women and girl-children.

“I was very excited when I heard that I have been nominated as my nomination talks to DUT’s ENVISION2030 strategic objectives that highlight that DUT people will be creative, innovative, entrepreneurial and adaptive to the changes in the world. Having the passion to create value and to better people’s lives from research findings is my motto to ensure the success of students,” she commented.

Motaung is a biomedical scientist with more than 23 years of experience in higher education. She is also the founder and CEO of Global Health Biotech (Pty) Ltd and has developed a natural anti-inflammatory ointment, La-Africa Soother.
