The concert will also feature a contingent of twenty-four star members of the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra, providing vibrant live backing to the singers as they perform a tantalising selection of the world’s best loved arias.

THE Playhouse Company, an Agency of the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, will be presenting an iconic concert entitled, 10 South African Sopranos, in the Drama Theatre on Sunday, March 26 at 14:00.

Concert curator and South African soprano Sibongile Mngoma said: “South Africa is internationally renowned for the wealth of great voices our country has produced, and continues to produce, on the stages of leading opera houses and concert halls across the globe. With this perspective in mind, it is an appropriate opportunity for the Playhouse, as one of the country’s leading performing arts bodies, to step up to the mark and showcase a cavalcade of our star performers on eThekwini’s premiere stage. The company’s loyal audience is sure to take great delight in saluting this magnificent roster of singing talent as it performs a superbly curated programme of golden classics.”
