Five killed in Morningside shoot-out
An official statement will be released following SAPS investigation.
SEVERAL suspects were killed in a police shoot-out in Morningside on Saturday, April 1.
Captain Muzi Maphumulo, spokesperson for Durban Central SAPS, confirmed the incident, although he did not specify the exact time or location of the shoot-out.
According to Maphumulo, the Hawks were following a lead on a case involving drugs and murder.
“They had collected evidence which prompted them to arrest the suspects in the area who are linked to other crimes. The suspects shot at the police, and one police member was [shot and] saved by a bulletproof vest he was wearing,” said Maphumulo.
