Armed robbers intercept bank deposit at gunpoint
Two of the three suspects were arrested and will face the Durban Magistrate’s Court for charges, including armed robbery.
TWO suspects were arrested after an armed robbery involving three suspects in Durban’s Central Business District on Wednesday, July 5 at about 10:45.
The suspects are expected to appear before the Durban Magistrate’s Court today, July 7, for charges of robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Zanele Khomo said Durban Central Crime Prevention, in conjunction with Metro police, arrested two suspects for possession of an unlicensed firearm and property suspected to be stolen on Bertha Mkhize Street.

“It is alleged by complainants that while they were on their way to the bank to deposit cash, they were accosted by three unknown males. The complainant was robbed of a bag of cash at gunpoint, and the suspects fled on foot,” said Khomo.
Swift police action led to two arrests.
“One of the suspects was found with a bag containing cash, which was taken during the robbery, and one with an unlicensed firearm and five live rounds of ammunition,” said Khomo.
The two suspects, aged between 31 and 32, were arrested and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and robbery with a firearm.
