Popular Musgrave restaurant closes its doors

Berea Mail visited the premises last week to find the restuarant doors shut.

WELL-KNOWN Musgrave restaurant, La Bella Trattoria Restaurant has reportedly shut its doors.

Perched on the edge of Berea Park, on the corner of Stephen Dlamini and St Thomas roads, the eatery has long been a landmark in the area.

News of the restaurant closure has caused a stir on social media. A post on the Facebook group, Durban Restaurants – GBN racked up more than 145 reactions and more than 70 comments.

Many reminisced about the fond memories they had at the restaurant while others pointed to load shedding and generator cost as possible causes for the closure.

“So sad. Spent many excellent evenings there,” wrote one social media user.

“So hard to make it work now in the industry[ with] many challenges but the load shedding is ripping us apart. Won’t find personal lekker local places like this in the near future…it will al be franchises,” said another.
