Ten people injured in multiple-vehicle accident

Two fully laden taxis and a light motor vehicle were involved in a crash involving all three vehicles this morning on Umgeni Road.

NINE people in transit in a taxi and one pedestrian were injured in a multiple-vehicle accident on Umgeni Road, just after 08:00 this morning.

According to ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson, ALS Paramedics Medical Services arrived on the scene to find total carnage after two taxis and a light motor vehicle had collided before one of the taxis lost control and collided with a pedestrian before coming to rest on its side.

A pedestrian sustained critical injuries and was stabilised on the scene before being rushed through to a nearby Durban hospital.

“At this stage, the events leading up to the accident are unknown, however, SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further,” said Jamieson.
