Man dies in hail of bullets in Durban South Beach

The events leading up to the shooting are unknown.

A MAN believed to be in his forties died from multiple gunshot wounds on Bell Street, in Durban South Beach, on Monday night according to an Advanced Life Support (ALS) Paramedics report.

ALS spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said they had received multiple distress calls of a shooting incident around 20:00, near TAFTA Retirement Home.

“When we arrived at the scene, we found that the South African Police Service was already at the scene, and the area was now a closed active crime scene. Paramedics were then shown a man, believed to be in his forties, who had sustained multiple gunshot injuries to his body,” said Jamieson.

According to Jamieson, the man was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Jamieson says the events leading up to the shooting are unknown, however, the SAPS will be investigating further.

SAPS is yet to comment on the shooting incident.
