GLENWOOD Presbyterian Church will be having its popular bi-annual fundraising fête on April 27, from 08:00 to 12:00, at 339 Esther Roberts Road in Glenwood.

“This fête is the main fundraising event for the church’s Operation Outreach fundraiser for our outreach programmes, which include those in need in our church and community and our Stella Pre-Primary school, a crêche in KwaMashu and a home for the elderly in Umbilo. As always, there are many different types of stalls to enjoy for everyone of all ages. You can browse and buy: pre-loved books, clothes, toys, tools, collectables and white elephant as well as handmade crafts and plants, and you can enter a raffle to win prizes,” said fête convener Vera Howard.

“There will be bargains galore! Don’t miss the opportunity – get there early to get the best buys,” said craft organiser Felicity Hunter.

“Food at the fête is also a big win – from early morning, you can buy hamburgers, boerewors rolls and pancakes. The Connection Coffee Shop will be selling their famous coffees and other hot drinks. Cooldrinks, snacks, cookies and cakes will also be on sale throughout the morning. The take-home foods, which include cakes, pickles and preserves, are also very popular. These go really fast so get in early,” said Hunter.

“There will be comfortable seating arrangements, both indoors and outdoors, where you can take time to relax, get your breath back and enjoy your refreshments while listening to some cool music,” said Howard.

Fun for the young includes a safe entertainment play area for the children in the Kidzone, where they can play safely and enjoy the swings, a jungle gym and a jumping castle.

Operation Outreach is run by a voluntary committee of church members who assist throughout the year. This fête is one of two held annually. The second will be at the end of October.

“This outreach programme helps and supports many individuals and organisations in the community, and we are calling on the community of Glenwood and surrounds to come along, have fun and make their contribution to a very worthwhile project again,” said Howard.
