Aweh! Find out what’s happening in Durbs (Christmas markets edition)

There are markets galore to help with your Christmas shopping this December.

DURBAN always delivers when it comes to stage productions, music concerts and markets. Get out and enjoy one or more of the Christmas markets listed below for the holiday season.

Not only do Christmas markets provide festive entertainment for the whole family, but they give shoppers a chance to do their much-needed gift purchasing for Christmas.

Granada Square Market (December 7)

Granada Square Market will host a market on Saturday, December 7, from 09:00 until 15:00. There will also be a stand for the SANBS for people wanting to donate blood on the day.

The market also boasts a variety of stalls and is situated on 16 Chartwell Drive, uMhlanga.

Important to note: There is no entrance fee.

Kloof CC Christmas Market (December 8)

The Kloof Country Club will host its Christmas market on Sunday, December 8, at 26 Victor Road, Kloof.

The market runs from 11:00 to 16:00, and there are food stalls, craft vendors and entertainment.

There will also be gift wrapping, carols and kids’ entertainment.

I heart Market (December 7, 14 and 21)

The I heart Market will host its Christmas markets on the following Saturdays: December 7, 14 and 21, from 09:00 until 14:00, at Northlands Primary School, 20 Gleneagles Drive, Durban North.

Families can enjoy a relaxing day out together, with a dedicated, supervised play area for the little ones, ensuring everyone has a great time.

The market is the perfect fit for shoppers hoping to do their gift-purchasing for Christmas.

Most of the market is housed in an air-conditioned hall, which makes shopping in the warmer weather much more comfortable, come rain or shine. There is also ample parking with car guards.

Golden Hours Family Market (December 6, 13, 15, 16, 17 and 20)

THIS year, the Golden Hours Family Market celebrated its 25th birthday, and it will host a series of markets with some Christmas-themed items on sale.

Lyn Wilson said the two festive markets will be held on Monday, December 16, and Tuesday, December 17, from 17:00 to 21:00. Santa will also be visiting, and there will be snow.

The venue on Uitsig Road in Durban will also play host to festive moonlight markets every Friday night (December 6, 13 and 20) from 17:00 to 21:00.

There will also be a bumper day market on Sunday, December 15.

Market 031 (December 13)

Market 031, hosted at Crusaders’ Sports Grounds on Ranleigh Crescent in Durban North, will host its Christmas-themed market on Friday, December 13, from 17:00 to 21:00.

The market has close to 80 vendors and offers a variety of items on sale.

Santa and his elves will also be making an appearance on the day.

Durban & Coast SPCA market (December 18)

The Durban & Coast SPCA market will be held on Wednesday, December 18, at their premises on 2 Willowfield Crescent.

There will be a number of vendors on the day selling a variety of items, and the market runs from 09:00 to 11:00.

Important to note: Entrance is free.

Night Market Crocworld (December 14)

Crocworld will host a Carols by Candlelight Day and Night Market on Saturday, December 14, from 11:00 to 21:00.

The festive market will include live entertainment by violinist Marianna from 17:00.

Visitors are welcome to bring homemade decorations to hang on the Christmas tree, with the option of donating presents or buying gifts on the day for donation to the children’s home, District 49, in Umkomaas.

Important to note: The cost is R10 per person – all proceeds go towards the Crop Team NPO to help families in need.
